আমার ফ্রিল্যান্সিংয়ের শুরুটা হয়েছিল ২০০৬ সালে। বাংলাদেশপ্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে (বুয়েট) ভর্তি হওয়ার পর পরই ফ্রিল্যান্সিং শুরু করি। এর আগে এ বিষয়টি নিয়ে প্রচুর পড়তাম। এরপর শুরু এবং পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি কাজ করে যাওয়া। বর্তমানে আমি ওয়েব ডেভেলপমেন্ট, ওয়েব প্রোগ্রামিংয়ের কাজ করি। মূলত পিএইচপি-ভিত্তিক কাজই বেশি করা হয়। বুয়েটের নগর ও অঞ্চল পরিকল্পনা বিভাগে পড়ার পাশাপাশি কাজ করে যাচ্ছি। শুরুতে বিভিন্ন ইন্টারনেট আউটসোর্সিংয়ের বিভিন্ন ওয়েবসাইট কাজ করলেও বর্তমানে সরাসরি গ্রাহকদের সঙ্গেই কাজ করি। শুরুর দিকে আমার কাজ দেখে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান পুরো টাকা অগ্রিম দিয়েছিল, যা খুব ভালো লেগেছে।

 প্রথম আউটসোর্সিংয়ের কাজ পেতে কয়েক সপ্তাহ বা কয়েক মাস পর্যন্ত সময় লেগে যেতে পারে।তাই হতাশ না হয়ে ধৈর্য ধরে বিড বা নিলামে অংশ নিতে হবে।
 শুরুর দিকে যত কম মূল্যে বিড করা হবে, কাজ পাওয়ার সম্ভাবনাও তত বাড়বে।
 সম্ভব হলে বিড করার আগেই যদি কাজটি সম্পন্ন করে গ্রাহককে দেখানো যায় এবং কাজটি যদি সে পছন্দ করে, তবে প্রকল্প প্রাপ্তি অনেকটাই নিশ্চিত।
 কোনো কাজ না পারলে সেই প্রকল্পে কখনোই বিড করা উচিত নয়।
 ইন্টারনেটে নানা ধরনের কাজ পাওয়া যায়। আপনি যে কাজই করে থাকুন না কেন, সেটাতে দক্ষ হয়ে উঠলে তবেই কাজের জন্য আবেদন করবেন।

প্রথমেই শুরু করছি fill in the blanks বা শুন্যস্থান পূরণ সার্চ দিয়ে।

ধরুন আপনি একটি শহরের নাম জানেন(Alabama) কিন্তু সেটা কোথায় অবস্থিত সেটা জানেন না। গুগলে গিয়ে লিখুন alabama is located in (*), মানে শুন্যস্থানে ব্র্যাকেটের মাঝে ষ্টার দিয়ে দিন। নিজেই চেষ্টা করে দেখুন উত্তরটা কিভাবে আসে।

তারপর ধরুন একটি নির্দিষ্ট সাইটের ভেতরে আপনি সার্চ করতে চাচ্ছেন, কিভাবে করবেন?

[সার্চ query site:sitename] এই নিয়মে এ সার্চ করলে নির্দিষ্ট সাইটের ভেতর থেকে আপনার কাঙ্খিত ফলাফলটি বের করে আনতে পারবেন। যদি mediafire site:earntricks.com লিখে সার্চ দিন, গুগল আর্নট্রিক্স ওয়েব সাইট থেকে শুধুমাত্র mediafire শব্দটির সার্চ রেজাল্ট দেবে। আপনি যদি নির্দিষ্ট কোন ডোমেইন থেকে সার্চের রেজাল্ট চান, তাহলে এইভাবে টাইপ করুন mediafire site:.bd। এ ক্ষেত্রে mediafire লিখাটি শুধুমাত্র যে সমস্ত .bd ডোমেইনের সাইট আছে সে সমস্ত সাইটকে সার্চ রেজাল্টে দেখাবে।

সাইটের টাইটেল অথবা সাইট টেক্সটে খোজাঃ

যেমনঃ intitle:free lynda tutorial লিখে সার্চ দিলে, যেসব ওয়েব সাইটের টাইটেলে free lynda tutorial কথাটি আছে, সেসব সাইটকে রেজাল্টে দেখাবে। অন্যদিকে, intext: lynda tutorial লিখে সার্চ করলে, যেসব ওয়েব সাইটের ভেতরের টেক্সটে (টাইটেলে নয়) lynda tutorial কথাটি আছে, সেসব সাইটকে রেজাল্টে দেখাবে।

ধরুন প্রিয় কোন সাইটে বাংলা খুজছেন কিন্তু পেলেন না, সেক্ষেত্রে এমন আর একটি সাইট খোজার প্রয়োজন হল যেটা আপনার প্রিয় সাইটের এর মত টিউটোরিয়াল শেয়ার করে, তাহলে পরিচিত সাইটটির আগে লিখুন related:
যেমনঃ related:prothom-alo.com লিখে সার্চ দিলে গুগল বাংলাদেশের অন্যান্য অনলাইন নিউজপেপার সাইটের সার্চ রেজাল্ট দেবে।

আপনি জানেন, গুগলকে ক্যালকুলেটর হিসেবেও ব্যবহার করা যায়!!!

যে হিসাবটি করতে চান তা যথাযথভাবে সার্চ বক্সে লিখতে হবে। উদাহরণস্বরূপঃ 2 + 3

sqrt 9
sin 90 + log 10
লিখুন, সার্চ করুন, দেখুন কি রেজাল্ট আসে।

কোন নির্দিষ্ট শব্দের সমার্থক শব্দ দরকার?

গুগলে নির্দিষ্ট শব্দের আগে (~) টিলড চিহ্নটি বসিয়ে সার্চ দিলে সমার্থক শব্দ পেয়ে যাবেন। যেমনঃ ~gorgeous লিখে সার্চ দিয়ে দেখুন তো, কতগুলো সিনোনিম খুজে পাওয়া যায়।
ফিচারটির নাম সিনোনিম সার্চ।

কোন কিছুর সংজ্ঞা পেতে:
আপনি যদি কোন শব্দের সংজ্ঞা পেতে চান তবে কোলন দিয়ে লিখুন।
উদাহরণ: define:plethora

সুনির্দিষ্ট ফাইল টাইপ
ফাইলের ধরন সুনির্দিষ্ট করে দেওয়া সম্ভব গুগল সার্চে। যেমন: filetype:pdf ফলাফলে সব পিডিএফ ফাইল দেখা যাবে। একইভাবে .ppt (পাওয়ার পয়েন্ট ফাইল), .doc (মাইক্রোসফট ওয়ার্ড ফাইল), .swf (ফ্ল্যাশ প্লেয়ার ফাইল)সহ আরো অনেক ধরনের ফাইলের ধরন নির্দিষ্ট করে দেওয়া সম্ভব।

আবহাওয়া সার্চঃ

ঠিক টাইম সার্চের মতই পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন জায়গার আবহাওয়া পূর্বাভাস জানতে গুগল সার্চ ব্যবহার করুন। লিখুন weather:[place/city] অথবা weather [place/city]। যেমনঃ লিখুন ও সার্চ করুন weather:Dhaka অথবা weather:Geneva। এখানে শহর বা জায়গাটি আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে প্রসিদ্ধ হতে হয়।
